IMRaD Format

This format for me is very different to anything that I have done in the past. I have only done informal research papers so this format is all new to me. Overall, this layout is very scientific based and I have never written any papers in a science class so it is very unfamiliar. The only research based papers that I have done were in high school and they only conducted of finding other research and sources to support an idea. This is very different from the structure of this layout because this on includes conducting your own study and finding the results to support your idea. Another difference that goes along with conducing your own research is explaining how you did it. This is something I have never done before and will need to learn before writing this essay. 

There are some similarities between the format of this research paper and papers I have done in the past. For instance the intro of this paper while it describes the research done it also focusses on the overall idea of the essay which most introductions are the same. This will be a huge benefit while writing this essay because the introduction lays the foundation of the essay. Furthermore, the analysis section of the essay is similar to what I have written before in other essays. The analysis is a little different because it is looking at the results that you found. Also, the analysis is different especially in the business reports because of the use of bullet points. While I have never used bullet points in an essay I have used them effectively in powerpoint. This hopefully will help me support my findings and I can grasp the concept of having bullet points in an essay. 

Overall, while the the format of an IMRaD essay is very unfamiliar to me it does make sense for a research paper. I feel that the parts of this format that I don't know will makes sense after they are explained in class. In addition, I will be able to use some of the skills that will transfer over from essays I have written in the past and implement them thought my essay. Finally, I am curious to how this format could be utilized in the business field.
